Made It

Image
Back home now, and recovering. This adventure will stay with us forever. Theo and I grew together, learned. Indy to Harmonie in nine days.  Thanks to everyone who followed along. It filled us with purpose knowing so many were there in spirit, rooting for our success. Thanks to those who made this adventure possible! To Emily and our girls back home. To Mom and Dad. To the Walters. To Craig Loss. To David Eades. To Andy Mundell. And more.

Among the Stars

Image
Five mile out from our goal. Emily and the girls are on there way to Harmonie State Park to meet us for a hike, and to celebrate the completion of our journey. When we hike Harmonie, we will also be accomplishing a family goal of visiting every state park in Indiana. Paddled through the night, totalling 88 miles in one stretch upon arrival to Harmonie. Theo and Jane slept under the stars in the bottom of the canoe.  An experience I will never forget.

Night Paddle

Conditions are perfect. Setting team record for miles in a day. Stand by for total.

Music

Image
Birds singing always. Lots of splashing, buzzing. Bug sprayed last night. A harmonica would be great.  Fishermen check Catfish traps daily. Bouyied lines dot the bank. Trucks honk from bridges. Tracking clouds. Night paddle?

Whittled Spear

Finished Neverwhere by Neil Gaiman. Still has me thinking. Makes reference to both Robinson Crusoe and Wizard of Oz. Now listening to a Daniel Boone biography. Great weather today. Very little wind. It's my fault. I lost the frisbee, and got mad that Theo didn't snatch it quick enough.

Confluence

West Fork and East Fork of the White River meet. A big river indeed. Tomorrow or next, the Wabash. The occasional tail wind is a treat. Emily, my queen, drove down to Petersburg with Lana and Millie, delivering supplies for the final stretch, 3 or 4 more days.
