Providence

An Asian carp jumped into our canoe! You can imagine our surprise. We acted quickly to secure, clean, and eat the fish, thanking the Creator. Up till now, we've done plenty of fishing, but no catching.  Beaver splashing tail. Bat flutter-flapping under bridge. Bald Eagles galore. Kingfishers. Swallow nests caking underside of bridges. Turtles, snakes. One tick on Jane. Locust. Adventurers need Moms too!

The strong current was intimidating at first, and still is. But the speed gains are huge and makes navigating exciting. We've travelled almost 60 river miles. Another good sleep. We meant to fish for catfish with a clam we found but were too tired to fish after setting up camp. My Mom is driving to meet us for lunch and resupply in Freedom, IN. So fun!
